Moving into her second decade working in education, Jodi Rath has decided to begin a life of crime in her The Cast Iron Skillet Mystery Series. Her passion for both mysteries and education led her to combine the two to create her business MYS ED, where she splits her time between working as an adjunct for Ohio teachers and creating mischief in her fictional writing. She currently resides in a small, cozy village in Ohio with her husband and her nine cats.
I have a cheap face and walls for miles. Communication seems simple--truth. Yet, many struggles with reality, including me. In my written work, I aim to create themes tying into the break-down of communication between individuals, families, friends, and communities. Through charcoal sketching and painting I strive to blur the lines of the human form and human condition using contrasting dark and light images.--Jodi Rath
MYS ED LLC Mission Statement
Mys. Ed LLC is a company that combines my two passions: Mysteries and Education. On the educational side, Mys. Ed is an educational service striving to do many things for educators including: Professional Development for Ohio teachers as well as written work by the owner, Jodi Rath, on current educational issues and ways to fill in the gaps to improve education. Mys. Ed works to help educators, parents, and students in developing a better educational system. Mys. Ed combines the entertainment side of life to help people escape from everyday struggles by diving into captivating mysteries, short stories, blogs, and poetry where the themes tie into the mysteries of life and ways we can educate ourselves to better our future.

Positions Prior to Education
August 1995 through 2001
All of my past experiences led me here to running my own business. During college, I worked for two independent insurance agencies where I learned day to day business operations from entrepreneurs. After college, I worked for a large insurance company beginning in Personal Lines and moving into Advertising/ Communications for several years where I worked in finance, copy writing, and speech writing. I later moved to being the Vice President of a Credit Union where I stayed for two more years before I began my pursuit in the educational field. I was a substitute teacher for K-12 for two years while pursuing my M.A. in Education. I then worked for Bloom-Carroll High School teaching 9th grade English for four years before moving to the senior English teacher position. I began the Advanced Placement Literature course and the Post-Secondary for English program at this district where I worked for ten years. I then looked for a change in education and moved to teaching high school English online for nearly five years. From there, I moved into higher education where I currently reside. I now work for Ashland University conducting self-paced, online Professional Development courses for the teachers in the state of Ohio. This position has allowed me to have the flexibility to pursue a long time passion to write. Currently, I have two small pieces published titled "The Writer's Life Part 1 and Part 2" for a writing affiliation Sister's In Crime and I had an article published in February of 2018 for Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development titled "Teachers Need Support Unpacking White Privilege and Race." Currently I belong to SinC, MWA (Mystery Writer's of America), SCBWI (Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators),ASCD, and NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English). I have several more completed articles, poetry, and stories that have been accepted coming out soon. Also, I have many WIPs (works in progress) that are near completion and soon to be published. My passions are education, reading, writing, research, and art: all of which I am currently utilizing in my current professions.
